英语标示语及其翻译

　　摘要：本文提供了作者在澳大利亚悉尼大学英语系访学期间所收集到的60余条标示语、注明其使用场所并给出了汉语译文，以期对国内标示语的翻译治理工作提供一些帮助。

　　一、 标示语翻译治理的意义
　　
　　英语作为世界通用语，将作为主要的标示语言之一。公共场所的标示语正确与否直接会影响到运动员的比赛和日常生活，也反映出我国公民的整体的英语水平，是一个国家英语教育水平高低的直接反映。我国标示语的翻译曾经出现过许多笑话，北京市为迎接2008年奥运会的召开，专门成立了机构负责治理标示语翻译的脏乱差。

　　三、 结语
　　
　　北京将在2008年举办奥运会，标示语的翻译也在引起人们的关注，笔者只是收集了一小部分，希望更多的学者利用国外学习的机会，多收集一些标示语，为北京的标示语翻译治理工作提供一些帮助。
